中外老式情歌賞析-11

本周擬討論以「花」為主題的情歌，第一首為中文的「紅薔薇」：

歌詞原為紅樓夢中，曹雪芹所寫，略謂：

紅薔薇呀，紅薔薇，夜來園中開幾蕊。

猶在枝頭照在水，吩咐東風莫亂吹。

紅薔薇呀，紅薔薇，招來院中多露水。

枝枝葉葉盡含淚，問你傷心是為誰？

歌詞押尾韻，內容十分哀怨(sentimental and melancholy) ，以花影射女子，東風本可滋潤花木，使它盛開，缺少東風，花木不長，所謂「東風無力百花殘」，但如今，曹老卻叫它「東風莫亂吹」。枝葉含淚-(tearful leaves and branches)? 傷心為誰? Who do you lament for?很動人。

第二為輕快的英文歌”Rose, rose, I love you.”-歌詞敘述美國水兵和馬來西亞酒女分手，男生依依不捨的心中感受：

*Rose, rose, I love you with an aching heart, (註：還不到broken heart之程度?)

What is your future now we have to part, (萍水相逢，仍然關心)

Standing on the jetty as the streamers move away,

Flower of Malaya, I cannot stay.

Make way, or make way (音同玫瑰), …all my eastern rose, (以花喻人)

Men crow in dozens, everywhere she goes.

In her rickshaw on the street or in the cabaret,

Please make way for Rose, you can hear them say,

*All my life I shall remember,

Oriental music and you in my arms,

Perfumed flowers in you dresses,

Lotus scented breezes and swaying palm.

Rose, rose I love you with almond eyes, (斜眼美女?)

fragrant and slender ‘neath tropical seas, (窈窕香女)

I must cross the seas again, 將遠渡重洋

And never see you more, 就此分手

Way back to my home on a distant shore.

Rose, rose, I leave you, my ship is in the bay,

Kiss me farewell now, there is nothing to say,

East is east, West is west, our worlds are far apart, 我倆千山萬水隔離；

I must leave you now but I leave you my heart. 就此分手，心心相繫

本曲歌詞很長，少重複(refrain) 。曲調活潑，不似傷心話別，配合jitterbug(狐步)

舞曲。

比較：曲調相似，但中文版歌詞，純著重稱讚花之艷麗，青春活潑、毫無傷感之意，

第三首為台語歌曲-「白牡丹」-(White Peony)-

白牡丹，笑吻吻，妖嬌含蕊等親君，

(White peony, gently smiling, charming and waiting for my love)

註：笑吻吻-念成cio bun bun-指不裂嘴而笑-all smiles

無憂、無愁、無怨恨，

(No sorrow, no remorse)

註：very submissively, without complaint

單守花園一枝春，

(The only blossom in the garden,)

註：單守= growing alone；一枝春：the only flower blooming

啊….. 單守花園一枝春。

白牡丹，白花蕊，

(White peony, white bud,)

春風無來花無開，

(Without spring breeze, the peony is not blooming)

「無亂開、無亂sui」，

註：這是最傳神的兩句，何謂亂開，指開花的時機(timing) 不對，古詩有「落花時節又逢君」的說法。台語稱漂亮叫sui，原字為女字旁加「隋字的右側」。何謂無亂sui? 乃指慎選時機展現美貌，若時機不對叫「三八」!

(It does not bloom indiscreetly, nor does it show its beauty in wrong time.)

M願suan枝出牆園，

(Unwilling to stretch stealthily its branches out of the hedge)

註：台語的suan念平聲，指「不知不覺」、「偷偷地」、「悄悄地」，例如趁人不注意時離去叫”suan tin” ，但suan 枝，指樹枝不經意地伸出界外，用以隱諭：婦女不忠(unfaithful) ，類似「紅杏出牆」之意。

啊….. M願suan枝出牆園，

白牡丹，等君挽，

(White peony, waiting for my love to pick)

註：挽=採

希望惜花頭一層，

(First of all, my love should take good care of me)

註：惜花=惜玉憐香

無嫌早、無嫌慢，

註：把握時機

(Just right in time,)

甘願乎君插花瓶，

(Willing to be picked by my love and put in the vase)

啊…. 甘願乎君插花瓶。

註：插花瓶，指蒙君珍惜，受君疼愛。

此歌作曲家為陳達儒老先生，其曲風為十足台語俗話的古典，可惜這種很口語化的台語(colloquial  Taiwanese)旱已失傳。
