今天選曲的故事也許不相關，但背景均和郊野有關；第一首美國西部文化，第二首帶點日本風格的台灣歌；最後一首是帶京劇韻味的中國古老文化。

1)     My Rifle, My Pony and Me-台譯-「赤膽屠龍」

本歌用吉他、口琴樂器，加上簡單曲調，描述牛仔之夢和心聲。Dean Martin, Ricky Nelson and Water Brennan 三人唱作俱佳。尤其Dean Martin拿出看家本領，展現出男中、低音的魅力。又影片中的大名星-John Wayne，因不會唱歌，故沒有他表現的份。

2)     山頂的黑狗兄：洪 一峰作曲。和上列一首不同的是，它描寫住在山上，富有的牧場主人狂想曲：

3)     第三首「王昭君」，和荒郊野外的沙漠有關。敘述唐朝的故事，用京劇唱腔，唱出昭君心中之愁怨….. 由西洋樂師、樂器組成的交響樂團，出生於台灣的女高音葉倩文發聲，西方樂隊加東方聲調，由近而遠，從沙漠静悄悄之聲到萬馬奔騰之嘶吼聲，勾勒出昭君出塞一幅偉大場景…。 由王....眧........君......展開序幕.....最後以「一曲琵琶恨正長」七言詩句結束，震撼全場，因為以流行歌手的天分來詮釋京劇的唱法，又要唱作兼顧是很大的挑戰。
