「一滴清油污白衣，斑斑駁駁使人疑，

縱饒洗遍千江水，爭似當初不污時」。

本詩句強調一個人人格清白的重要。並以一滴油污染白衣為例，一經污染，就無法還原始的清白。全文四句說明一切，第一句，清油与白衣。第二句的「斑斑駁駁」表示污染已成。第三句的千江水，來洗遍(clean up) ，作者用了「縱饒」，約相當於even though….. 。第四句的「爭似」，用得好，要像不污時之清白，頗值懷疑，也強調人格之清白(without any blemish) 。

二、英譯：

One drop of oil soils white clothes,

Spots here and there on clothes cause people to be suspicious

Even though clothes are cleaned up in thousands of rivers,

The water fails to eliminate the oil spots, and their cleanness leaves room for doubt.

三、日譯：

一滴の油が白い服を汚し

衣服の上の斑点は人々に不審を引き起こす

何千もの川で服が掃除されても、

水は油の斑点を取り除くことができず、その清潔さは疑いの余地があります。
